As early as the 1920's, Germain Massal the founder made silk-stockings that he dispatched in luxury boxes to the Royal and Imperial Courts of Europe.
This, the industrial story of the Massal family started and has lasted now for 3 generations.
L'Arsoie has been rooted in the wild natural countryside of the Cevennes since that time. An hour's drive from the towns of Montpellier and Nîmes and the Mediterranean coast, the company is the last 100% French manufacturer.
Knitting of genuine fully-fashioned stockings with 'Cotton' machines, 3D type. Flat knitting started in 1864; presently our 2 machines, Reading type, are the only 2 still running in Continental Europe from Gibraltar to Vladivostock. This artistic type of know-how was disappearing from the planet: we have been able to revive it — quite a challenge! Stockings knitted nowadays on fully-fashioned machines, 3 D type, are well-adapted to the shape of the leg, the meshes are identical from the top to the toe-end, they are perfectly-fitting and available in 5 sizes.
Now we are able to recreate collections and special designs of stitches which had become an exclusivity for museums and private collectors.
Our know-how has been recognized and classified as 'art work' Our genuine seam stocking 'Tentation' is the stocking of HAUTE COUTURE because:

Literature about silk yarn dates back to the 16th century ; our region was devoted to silk worm breeding and silk mills developed together with the production of silk stockings to provide the Royal and Imperial courts.
