History of Elly

1963

The Elly production plant was first founded in spring of 1963. The production was high-quality women's stockings: pantyhose were not yet fashionable. The founder of the Company is Mr. Ubaldo Elli, who immediately thinks about transforming his name into a company logo and a product name, changing the final letter “i” into “y”: the first of a long list of intuitive inspirations. Mr Elli oversees most of the Company activities, from production down to sales.

1964

After a short time after its creation, the Company grows rapidly and soon personnel reaches 10 employees.

1968

The first important step: a second local production unit is set up, comprising offices, warehouse and packing.

1969

Elly hires its first national salesman and starts producing the first relaxing support stockings, that will then be sold under the two company trademarks, as usual, defined by Mr Elli: Carezza and Antistress.

1972

A third local unit is added with production and assembly of products.

1975

For the first time Ellyreaches 1 million pairs of stockings and pantyhose produced in a year.

1978

The three units are consolidated in a single plant of over 30,000 square meters. Even the company name is modified in C.R.E. (Calzifici Riuniti Elli).

1981

The first trade relationships with different European key-clients of the sanitary/orthopaedic field: Mr Elli discovers himself having a vocation for being an export manager.

1989

Property asset expands and Mr Elli’s three sons each play an important role in the Company, and a much more detailed partition of tasks and functions is agreed. The Company becomes a Limited Company — Srl in Italian.

1990

A new local unit measuring 13,000 square meters (5,000 of which is covered) is inaugurated at 50 meters from the main site, where the sales department, packing, ready-made products warehouse and despatch area are located.

1996

For the first time in the Company history, Elly can be seen on television, through an advertisement campaign that has as its purpose increasing visibility and awareness of the Carezza and Antistress brands.

1997

Start of the process leading to quality certification, a long-term strategic goal.

2/03/2000

With great satisfaction for the work made on this project, Elly obtained the UNI EN ISO9002; 1994 (ISO 9002;1994) quality certification.

2001

The modernisation of the production facility ends by the replacement of the old mechanical machines with new electronic models. The informatics process is completed, to provide accurate control in manufacturing and the highest standards of customer care, along with improved quality of the products.

2003

End of the process leading to UNI EN ISO 9000:2000 quality certification, a new strategic achievement.
