Super-sheer smooth plain knit Fully Fashioned all-nylon non-stretch stockings. The stockings have a short Point heel, which is clearly visible in our scans, and bear an imprint on the top of one stocking in each pair. The imprint reads, simply:
NYLON
1er CHOIX
This, of course corresponds exactly with the packaging, and means (from the original French) 'NYLON STOCKINGS 1st CHOICE'
No further details whatsoever are provided, but we judge these slinky classic nylons to be knit in an ultra-sheer 15 denier yarn at 60 gauge. The stocking top (welt) measures a shorter-than-average 50mm, whilst the deeper-than-average under/afterwelt is slightly shallower at 45mm. The top of the stockings is clipped to the backing card, which suggests to us that these stockings date to the early 1950's, possibly late 1940's. The colour is not defined.
The stockings are in the original paper 'envelope', without any outer cellophane wrapper, which is not uncommon for stockings of this era originating in France. It should be noted that there are small spots of discolouration on the packaging, but that there is no sign of this discolouration having affected, or being present in, the stockings!!
