Super-sheer mesh-knit wisps of Fully Fashioned all-nylon stockings with a very narrow Cuban Heel. Charnos are one of the more well-known of British nylons manufacturers, and are still producing fine hosiery.
By the look of the fashions worn by the characters on the front of the pack we would guess that these stockings date from the 1950's. The colour is identified on the original cellophane packs (which are in very good condition), but the denier isn't. We are of the opinion that these very rare retro nylons are knit in 15 denier yarn, and although the packs have a leg length 'indicator' they cannot be considered reliable due to distortion of this part of the cellophane.
The welt and underwelt to these stockings both feature multiple bands of fine Picot stitching.
The inside of the pack gives a clue as to why the pack front shows a cat:
'YOUNG CHARNOS are miaou-vellous value in nylons said our knowing Siamese.'
The pack continues with
'You're going to love these nylons, she went on, whether you're a hep-cat or not. Charnos has a name for purr-fection, and this new young line is purr-fect too. But if a pair did get through our checking department with a flaw in it - which is most unlikely - please take it back to the shop at once and we'll replace it. (goodness knows how seldom it happens)'
The youthful theme is continued in the naming of the colour: Cha-Copper
Please Note: there are very tiny signs on discolouration on the one pair that we have examined.
